'Gender: Beyond the Binary' Seminar

IExcel Education will host a seminar led by Archana Pathak, director of VCU's Q Collective. The seminar will focus on knowledge of who genderqueer and non-binary people are, provide a stronger grasp of terminology and definitions to guide inclusive language practices and an increased awareness of the current social and political contexts as they apply to gender non-conforming communities. History and Health: Making Ethical Health Care Decisions

Yogic Breathing

RamBikes Tiny Parks Tour

RamBikes will host a group ride to help students become acquainted with the Richmond area and to introduce riding on streets in a safe way. This beginner-level ride will be led by RamBikes staff and will go to several tiny parks and gardens in the Fan area. VCUarts Theatre To Present 'The Importance of Being Earnest'

Come see Oscar Wilde’s famous madcap farce about mistaken identities, secret engagements and entangled lovers. Originally published in 1895, this wildly entertaining comedy still delights with its rapid-fire wit and eccentric characters, and the work of VCUarts Theater's design/technical production students shines from the beautiful period costumes to art nouveau-inspired scenic design. Performances are scheduled for Oct. 6-9 at W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. Tickets $5-15 with discounts for VCU students, faculty, staff and alumni.

First Friday: Ami Dang

An RVA First Friday solo musical performance will feature composer, vocalist and sitarist Ami Dang. The performance will be in the forum of the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. The concert will feature a combination of South Asian music with experimental use of the sitar, lighting design, synthesizers and MIDI controllers.

Recreation and Well-Being Foundational Movement Series: Lower Hinge
Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Foundational Movement Series provides focused education on the body's basic movement patterns. A certified personal trainer will review basic biomechanics and show participants how to implement these movements into daily exercises and program goal-specific, effective workouts. Virtual Reality Gaming for Back Pain
Are you currently experiencing low back pain, between the ages of 18-60 years old and interested in the possibility of nine weeks of nonsurgical experimental treatment? If you answered yes to all three you may qualify for our research. What? New, innovative and fun virtual reality games are designed to help people with chronic back pain move and feel better. Where? All appointments, testing and treatments are conducted at VCU. When? Participation in the study involves 24 one-hour appointments scheduled over a 57-week period. Who?
