Special Announcement
Broad Street Construction Project Underway
On April 11, the city of Richmond embarked on a gateway and corridor improvements project along Broad Street which includes construction along Broad Street from Hamilton to Laurel streets and paving from Third Street to just west of Staples Mill Road. There will be intermittent travel lane, parking lane and sidewalk closures during the project. Paving will be a 24-hour operation, starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday and ending at 6 p.m. on Friday, with lane closures limited during morning and evening peak hours. At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction. Many GRTC buses, including the Pulse, will be detoured off Broad Street. View the GRTC impacts at http://ridegrtc.com/news-initiatives/news-updates/broadrepaving. Impacts to VCU parking facilities and RamRide are not expected. Be mindful of lane closures and potential delays to your commute related to construction. 'Combating Racism Through a Public Humanities Perspective'
Thursday, Apr. 21, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Stories are a central way to make sense of the world. In this virtual talk Jennifer Ho, Ph.D., a professor in the department of Ethnic Studies and director of the Center for Humanities and the Arts at the University of Colorado Boulder, will share her work as a public humanities scholar trying to disrupt narratives of white supremacy. By sharing stories about Asian Americans, including her own family’s path to the United States, Ho will demonstrate how personal histories can help create counter-narratives of antiracism. This event is presented as part of the VCU's Humanities Research Center's Race, Ethnicity and Social Justice Speaker Series. Register for the Zoom link at the following URL.
