Now Accepting Applications: OVPRI Spring 2022 Grant Academy

VCU's Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation is accepting applications for the Spring 2022 Grant Academy, a grant-writing program providing training and support for a select cohort of faculty investigators working with senior faculty, research-development experts and research administrators with the goal of submitting a successful funding proposal. This training, open to all faculty, offers assistance to a selected cohort who: (1) currently have a concrete research project idea, (2) are ready to develop a proposal and (3) have identified an opportunity due in the next 18 months that will have a transformative impact on their career if awarded. Faculty participants will receive guidance on proposal strategy, development and project management; scaffolded proposal preparation with intensive individual support from research development staff and three-tiered review, including cohort peer partner feedback, internal VCU review and access to an external review committee before submission. Online applications are due by 5 p.m. March 25.

Research Study on Two Stress-Reduction Programs

We are seeking to enroll participants for a research study on two stress-reduction programs. Participants will receive a 14-day smartphone-based stress-reduction course free of charge. Study includes a lab session before and after the stress-reduction course wherein participants will fill out brief surveys and complete several brief tasks during fNIRS neuroimaging. Filipino American Heart Health Study

Youssef Roman, Pharm.D., Ph.D., of VCU's School of Pharmacy is conducting an epidemiological study to assess the prevalence and causes of heart diseases in Filipino Americans. This study is for those who consider themselves Filipino with both biological parents of Filipino heritage. The study is funded by VCU's C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research.
