Volunteer With IPSA at Health Brigade

Free Flu Vaccines at University Student Health Services
University Student Health Services offers free flu vaccines to all students on both campuses. The flu vaccine is safe, effective and does not cause the flu. All students are encouraged to get the flu vaccine, especially those at high risk for flu complications (people with asthma, diabetes or heart disease). VCU Police To Offer Women's Self Defense Course - Rape Aggression Defense
VCU Police will host Rape Aggression Defense training March 19-20. The training teaches participants physical self-defense techniques and raises awareness about sexual assault, violence and abduction. The class is for women (assigned, identifying and transgender) and is free to students, or $10 for faculty, staff and visitors. RAD is a 12-hour program and participants must be able to attend both dates. Register at the following URL.

Women in Science Travel Award
Supporters of Women in Science can apply for a travel award toward any conference or scholastic/research presentation in memory of the group's late mentor, Jan Chlebowski, Ph.D., a biochemist and faculty member at VCU for 39 years. The winner will be offered up to $300 and the runner-up up to $200 to support a virtual or in-person conference this year. Applications must demonstrate promotion of women in science, either through participation in Women in Science or in another manner. Email the following address for an application. The Queerantine Archive Project: Spring 2022 Call for Proposals
The mission of the Queerantine Archive Project is to compile, showcase and archive moments of LGBTQIA2S+ joy, resilience and pleasure during the COVID-19 pandemic. Patients With Painful Diabetic Neuropathy Are Invited To Participate in a Study of a Potential New Treatment
We are inviting male and female Type 2 diabetes patients with painful diabetic neuropathy ages 18-75 to participate in a research investigation of a new treatment to alleviate pain and examine its effects on pain perception. In addition to the new treatment, this study involves completing surveys and undergoing tests to evaluate perceptions of pain. Volunteers will be compensated for their time. Participants are only required to come once for the study. The study is conducted within the VCU Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Lab. Filipino American Heart Health Study
Youssef Roman, Pharm.D., Ph.D., of VCU's School of Pharmacy is conducting an epidemiological study to assess the prevalence and causes of heart diseases in Filipino Americans. This study is for those who consider themselves Filipino with both biological parents of Filipino heritage. The study is funded by VCU's C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research.

Research Participants Needed
Are you in recovery from substance use? Researchers in the Psychology Department are inviting students in recovery to participate in a research study on sleep health. Participation may include: filling out a daily sleep diary for six weeks, tracking your sleep wearing a wrist-worn device (provided at no cost), attending two 90-minute discussion groups via Zoom and answering two online surveys. Compensation will be provided for your time.
