Applications are open for health care summer programs offered by VCU's Division for Student Engagement and Impact. The division strives to diversify the health care workforce through its programs and initiatives. Summer programs will be in-person. Recreation and Well-Being First Aid Blended Course

The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Course will teach participants to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies, including burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries and heat and cold emergencies to help victims of any age. The blended format features a virtual experience in which participants will respond to real-world emergencies in preparation for the instructor-led classroom skill session. Recreation and Well-Being Basic Life Support With First Aid Course

The Basic Life Support With First Aid blended learning course is intended for health care providers responding to cardiac and breathing emergencies. The course specializes in skills in CPR, AED and first aid, along with elements of communication and adaptability when responding to emergencies. The blended course features two virtual interactive sessions in preparation for the instructor-led classroom skill session. The course will be offered by VCU Recreation and Well-Being (RecWell). RecWell Log Rolling at Cary Street Gym

Learn how to log roll at the Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center, 101 S. Linden St., at a session offered by VCU Recreation and Well-Being (RecWell). The next session will be held from 8-9 p.m. Feb. 14. No swimming skills are required for the session, which is free. Trained instructors will teach participants how to stand and run on the log roller in shallow water. VCU OMSA's #28DaysOfBlackCosplay: Cosplay Competition has moved to a virtual format. Cosplay contestants will be posted on VCU OMSA's social media pages with the hashtag #VCUOMSACosplayCompetition. Patients With Painful Diabetic Neuropathy Are Invited To Participate in a Study of a Potential New Treatment

We are inviting male and female Type 2 diabetes patients with painful diabetic neuropathy ages 18-75 to participate in a research investigation of a new treatment to alleviate pain and examine its effects on pain perception. In addition to the new treatment, this study involves completing surveys and undergoing tests to evaluate perceptions of pain. Volunteers will be compensated for their time. Participants are only required to come once for the study.
