The Spiritual Power of Habits

Social Justice 2022: Environment, Desires and Dis/abilities

VCU Sociology-Alpha Kappa Delta will present a panel via Zoom to explore the meaning and mobility of social justice. The panel will include Renada Harris, a hairstylist, salon owner and VCU graduate who organizes the movements for climate/environmental justice and reparative justice, and Alan S. Martino, Ph.D., University of Calgary Community Health Services, who will discuss his work on community rehabilitation and critical disability studies with queer and feminist theories. Cancer Luminaria Ceremony
7:30 p.m.
Relay for Life will host a luminaria ceremony at the Amphitheater to honor those affected by cancer. Luminarias will be decorated with the names of loved ones affected by cancer and lighted with tea lights at sundown. The celebration of hope is open to all. Refreshments and awareness activities will be available.

The Baby Box Project - Care Packages

Volunteers are sought for the Baby Box Project at VCU to help create care packages with essential baby supplies and basic hygiene products. 'The Journey Toward Free' Workshop

"[i.D.]entity: The Journey Toward Free" is an interactive workshop for men of color hosted by VCU's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. A documentary will be shown, which is broken down into four parts: 1.) identifying one’s roots, 2.) setting intentions to move through fear, 3.) practicing the intentions and 4.) watching the love and support of community inspire continued practice. During the viewing, participants will have the opportunity to engage in conversations and food will be provided. The event will be in Suite 215, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave.

Commuter Basics With RamBikes

RamBikes will host a commuter basics workshop at 1106 W. Broad St. (near the intersection of Broad and Harrison streets) for anyone who would like to commute by bike but isn't sure how to get started. The event will include a review of safety aspects of riding in traffic as well as what gear can increase visibility. The workshop will also cover routine maintenance and some key checks to make before each ride. No experience is necessary. A ride at a park will be offered For those who bring a bike.

South Asian Roots of Yoga
