The MCV Foundation's Inaugural Adam Abubaker Memorial Lectureship, "Scientific Strategies to Stop Overdoses and Prevent Addiction," will feature Nora D. 'The Journey Toward Free' Workshop

"[i.D.]entity: The Journey Toward Free" is an interactive workshop for men of color hosted by VCU's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. A documentary will be shown, which is broken down into four parts: 1.) identifying one’s roots, 2.) setting intentions to move through fear, 3.) practicing the intentions and 4.) watching the love and support of community inspire continued practice. Commuter Basics With RamBikes

RamBikes will host a commuter basics workshop at 1106 W. Broad St. (near the intersection of Broad and Harrison streets) for anyone who would like to commute by bike but isn't sure how to get started. The event will include a review of safety aspects of riding in traffic as well as what gear can increase visibility. The workshop will also cover routine maintenance and some key checks to make before each ride. No experience is necessary. A ride at a park will be offered For those who bring a bike.

The Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care announces the call for nominees for the Eighth Annual Excellence in Interprofessionalism Recognition Awards. These awards serve to recognize full-time VCU students graduating in 2022 and full-time faculty members who have worked at VCU for less than five years who have demonstrated significant involvement and interest in promoting interprofessional activities. Faculty, programs and schools may nominate as many students as they wish. Students and faculty may self-nominate. Food Drive To Benefit Feed More
VCU's School of Education will host a food drive through May 6 with Puritan Cleaners for their 100K Meals program to benefit Feed More. Nonperishable items will be collected in bins located at Oliver Hall, 1015 W. Main St., rooms 1037, 2136, 3096-A or 4064-C. Bins are also located at 700 E. Franklin St. and 3600 W. Broad St.

Patients With Painful Diabetic Neuropathy Are Invited To Participate in a Study of a Potential New Treatment
We are inviting male and female Type 2 diabetes patients with painful diabetic neuropathy ages 18-75 to participate in a research investigation of a new treatment to alleviate pain and examine its effects on pain perception. In addition to the new treatment, this study involves completing surveys and undergoing tests to evaluate perceptions of pain. Volunteers will be compensated for their time. Participants are only required to come once for the study. The study is conducted within the VCU Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Lab.
