For too long in the United States, the story of who is “American” and who deserves to be seen as fully enfranchised has prioritized the narratives of white men. In this virtual talk Jennifer Ho, Ph.D., a professor in the department of Ethnic Studies and director of the Center for Humanities and the Arts at the University of Colorado Boulder, will share her work as a public humanities scholar trying to disrupt narratives of white supremacy. By sharing stories about Asian Americans, including her own family’s path to the United States, Ho will demonstrate how personal histories can help create counter-narratives of antiracism. This event is presented as part of the VCU's Humanities Research Center's Race, Ethnicity and Social Justice Speaker Series. Register for the Zoom link at the following URL.
