Share Your Memories of Franklin Street Gym
Franklin Street Gym, which was torn down in 2020 to make way for a new STEM facility on campus, opened in 1952. Seventy years later, two years after it was torn down and as a new building rises where it once stood, we reflect on a VCU landmark that predated the university itself. Share your favorite memories of the old Franklin Street Gym for possible inclusion in the new VCU Magazine.

Sila Chanto and Belkis Ramírez: 'Aquí Me Quedo / Here I Stay'
"Aquí Me Quedo / Here I Stay" proposes a conversation between late artists Sila Chanto (Costa Rica, 1969-2015) and Belkis Ramírez (Dominican Republic, 1957-2019), who radically transformed the language of printmaking. By introducing experimental techniques, both women advanced new ways of discussing the body, power relations, architecture, patriarchal violence and environmental issues in deeply conservative societies. The exhibit will be available through June 19 at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St.
