Sila Chanto and Belkis Ramírez: 'Aquí Me Quedo / Here I Stay'
Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10 a.m.
"Aquí me quedo / Here I Stay" proposes a conversation between late artists Sila Chanto (Costa Rica, 1969-2015) and Belkis Ramírez (Dominican Republic, 1957-2019), who radically transformed the language of printmaking. By introducing experimental techniques, both women advanced new ways of discussing the body, power relations, architecture, patriarchal violence and environmental issues in deeply conservative societies. The exhibit will be available through June 19 at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St.
