Collective Corazón's First General Body Meeting

Cultural Conversations Between VCU in Doha, Qatar and Richmond

Recreation and Well-Being Foundational Movement Series
Wednesday, Sep. 7, 2022 at 6 p.m.
RecWell’s Small Group Training Program is offering the Foundational Movement Series, designed to help individuals program unique and effective workouts in order to reach specific goals. A certified personal trainer will review basic biomechanics and show participants how to implement movements into daily exercises. The first session of this three-part series is about "The Pull,” focusing on exercises that involve moving weight toward the body. The program will be at the Cary Street Gym FIT Zone, 101 S. Linden St.

Thinking at the End of the World: The Work of the Environmental Humanities

To kick off the Humanities Research Center's annual theme of environmental humanities, Stephanie Foote, Ph.D., will discuss the current state of the field. Foote is the Jackson and Nichols chair and professor of English at West Virginia University, where she researches and teaches American literature and culture from the 19th century to the present with a particular focus on environmental issues. 'Gangsters of Capitalism: Smedley Butler, the Marines and the Making and Breaking of America's Empire'

Tracing a path from the first wave of U.S. overseas expansionism to the rise of fascism in the 1930s to the crises of democracy today, the book recounts the story of a formative era in American history. Child Development Associate Training

Recreation and Well-Being Lifeguard Certification
Learn the skills and knowledge necessary to prevent aquatic emergencies and increase your critical thinking and decision-making skills. This course is offered in the Blended Learning format and will require seven to eight hours of online pre-course work. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, First Aid and Administering Emergency Oxygen, valid for two years.
