VCUarts' Department of Art Education will offer Creative Arts Day Camp for children rising into grades K-9. Students will explore digital media, painting, drawing, bookmaking, fibers and more. Classes will be taught by graduate and undergraduate art education students on the VCU campus. Four classes will be offered each session with classes divided by age group. We are inviting male and female Type 2 diabetes patients with painful diabetic neuropathy ages 18-75 to participate in a research investigation of a new treatment to alleviate pain and examine its effects on pain perception. In addition to the new treatment, this study involves completing surveys and undergoing tests to evaluate perceptions of pain. Volunteers will be compensated for their time. Participants are only required to come once for the study. The study is conducted within the VCU Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Lab. There is a potentially useful technique measuring blood flow on ultrasound as a way to noninvasively identify extremity compartment syndrome (dangerously elevated pressures in arms or legs). VCU's Dept. of Emergency Medicine plans to perform a study to investigate this hypothesis with 25 healthy volunteers. The study will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
