Noah Simblist: What Do We Hold in Common? Explorations Of Local and Global Notions of Community

This presentation will examine recent projects that address different definitions of community, including “Tania Bruguera: The Francis Effect.” This book is about the noted Cuban artist/activist’s project in which Bruguera requests that the pope grant Vatican City citizenship to all immigrants and refugees. The icon of Bruguera’s project was the Pangea, a symbol of the world that becomes one land mass where the borders between nation states are blurred. Free Flu Vaccines at University Student Health Services
University Student Health Services offers free flu vaccines to all students on both campuses. The flu vaccine is safe, effective and does not cause the flu. All students are encouraged to get the flu vaccine, especially those at high-risk for flu complications (people with asthma, diabetes or heart disease. Recreation and Well-Being Basic Life Support With First Aid Trainings
Basic Life Support with First Aid Training is intended for health care providers responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in various settings. Course skills specialize in CPR/AED and first aid along with communication and adaptability, which are crucial during an emergency response. This blended learning course contains a combination of digital and in-person instruction. Participants can choose one of the in-person sessions taking place on October 11, 15, 25 or 29. Chili Chefs Needed for Annual Fundraising Cook-off
VCU Police will host an annual chili cook-off fundraiser to benefit FRIENDS Association for Children on Oct. 28. Chefs are needed and all chili recipes, including turkey, bean-less and vegetarian are welcome. Black Love Safe Love
This is a research study aiming to receive feedback on a sexual health intervention designed for couples. To be eligible to participate, you have to identity as Black or African American and be 18 to 35 years of age. The study requires participation in a 120 minute session and completion of a questionnaire. Compensation is available.
