VCU Libraries' Grad Fest offers an open house-style overview of resources and services for graduate students. Learn about campus life and opportunities and explore resources for research. VCU Academic Technologies will host a live, virtual overview of Canvas, VCU's web-based learning management system. The session will give students an overview of Canvas, helping them get a jump start on how to navigate Canvas to complete class assignments, projects and more. Presidential Management Fellowship Informational Session

VCU Alumni and Students Today Alumni Tomorrow invites students, student organizations, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to the annual Ram Spirit Walk. In this Weeks of Welcome tradition, the Class of 2026, incoming transfer students and The Peppas spirit band march from New Student Convocation at Monroe Park through campus and back to the park for a celebratory cookout. Put on your spirit gear, make a banner and line up along the parade route to cheer on our newest Rams.

History at the Movies: 'The Last Duel'

The VCU History Department will present a screening of Ridley Scott’s 2021 film "The Last Duel" at the Byrd Theatre, 2908 W. Cary St. VCU history associate professor Leigh Ann Craig, Ph.D., will offer an introduction and discussion about historical facts and about the adaptation and use of history in modern media. Get Ahead on the Semester With a Library Tour
A 30-minute tour of James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., provides an overview of the resources and spaces available to students. Tours are free, open to all and start in the lobby; no reservation is required. New this fall are tours of The Workshop and for VCU Arts students. Details are available at the following URL. Recreation and Well-Being Staff Training Hours Aug. 18 and 19
RecWell facilities will have shortened hours on Thursday, Aug. 18 and Friday, Aug. 19 for staff training. The Cary Street Gym and MCV Campus Recreation Center will be closed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. both days.

Smoking Reduction Study for African American Menthol Smokers
Adults who smoke menthol cigarettes and identify as Black/African American are invited to participate in a study that involves electronic cigarette use for six weeks to reduce their smoking. Participants must be willing to visit the study site, receive phone calls and respond to texts/ surveys. Compensation is provided. Primary investigators are Andrew Barnes, Ph.D., Health Behavior and Policy Department, and Caroline Cobb, Ph.D., Psychology Department.
