All graduate, professional and MCV Campus students are invited to the MCV Campus Welcome Fair in Jonah L. Larrick Student Center, 900 Turpin St. Learn about opportunities for involvement in campus life through VCU's student organizations, departments and programs. Giveaways, a free lunch and fun activities will highlight the fair with dozens of tables featuring information about resources on the MCV campus. Graduate and professional students across both campuses and MCV Campus undergraduate students are welcome.

Pace Center Meet and Greet

Informational Session: International Scholarships for Graduate Students

Join the National Scholarship Office for a virtual informational session on national scholarship opportunities for graduate students. The office will provide an overview of the kinds of external funding opportunities available, how to find them and how the NSO can offer support through the application process. In this Weeks of Welcome tradition, the Class of 2026, incoming transfer students and The Peppas spirit band march from New Student Convocation through campus and back to Monroe Park for a celebratory cookout. Put on your spirit gear, make a banner and line up along the parade route to cheer on our newest Rams.

Weeks of Welcome Block Party

The Weeks of Welcome Block Party begins in Monroe Park and will feature a DJ, a live cover band (Attraction), inflatables and free dinner (new VCU students only). Food options will include Burrito and Cookout stations (with vegetarian and vegan options), Papa John's Pizza, popcorn, shaved ice, cotton candy and nachos. Preceding the block party will be Convocation at 4 p.m. and Ram Spirit Walk at 4:30 p.m. No advance registration is necessary.

Free Workshop: How To Do Library Research for Humanities Undergraduates

Are you new to VCU? Are you hesitant to check out a book or talk to a librarian? Your professor asks for multiple primary and secondary sources and you don’t know how to find those at the library? New VCU Libraries sessions are geared for undergraduates in the humanities, including students studying English, gender, sexuality, women’s studies, history, philosophy and world studies. Sessions will be taught in part by undergraduate library fellows and professors on Aug. 26 and Aug. 30 and will be in Room 303, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. Go to one or all. Test Pattern 04: jaamil olawale kosoko

The ICA’s Test Pattern performance series returns for the fall, starting with a presentation of artist and author jaamil olawale kosoko‘s "Black Body Amnesia," a live theatrical event that examines the shapeshifting, illegible and fugitive realities of Black diasporan people negotiating the psychic life worlds of living inside the American context. The event will be at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St.

Get Ahead on the Semester With a Library Tour
A 30-minute tour of James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., provides an overview of the resources and spaces available to students. eServices Is Getting a New Look on Aug. 19
VCU's eServices will get a new look and feel for financial aid, student accounting, faculty services, student and personal information, finance and human resources on Friday, Aug. 19. Updates will include enhanced functionality that expands and supports VCU's Call Me By My Name initiative, including name of use on class lists for faculty; cleaner and easier navigation; and improved transparency of processes. Users may experience system downtimes between 6-7 p.m. on Aug. 19 as the upgrade occurs.

Do You Smoke Tobacco Cigarettes?
Individuals who smoke tobacco cigarettes daily are needed to participate in a research study that requires multiple laboratory visits. Compensation may be available. This study will be conducted at VCU. Principal Investigator is Alison Breland, Ph.D., Department of Psychology.
