2022 Levis Reading Prize: Devon Walker-Figueroa

Devon Walker-Figueroa, winner of the 2022 Levis Reading Prize, will read from her poetry collection "Philomath." "Philomath," Walker-Figueroa’s debut full-length poetry collection was selected by Sally Keith for the 2020 National Poetry Series. The Levis Reading Prize is awarded annually for the best first or second book of poetry published in the previous calendar year and chosen by the M.F.A. in creative writing program at VCU. RamBikes Tiny Parks Tour

This beginner-level ride will be led by RamBikes staff and will go to several tiny parks and gardens in the Fan area. First Friday: Ami Dang

An RVA First Friday solo musical performance will feature composer, vocalist and sitarist Ami Dang. Recreation and Well-Being Foundational Movement Series: Lower Hinge
Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Foundational Movement Series provides focused education on the body's basic movement patterns. A certified personal trainer will review basic biomechanics and show participants how to implement these movements into daily exercises and program goal-specific, effective workouts. Basic Life Support with First Aid Training is intended for health care providers responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in various settings. Course skills specialize in CPR/AED and first aid along with communication and adaptability, which are crucial during an emergency response. This blended learning course contains a combination of digital and in-person instruction. Participants can choose one of the in-person sessions taking place on October 11, 15, 25 or 29. Learn how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. This course meets OSHA requirements for workplace CPR/AED and first aid training. Do You Smoke Tobacco Cigarettes?

Virtual Reality Gaming for Back Pain
Are you currently experiencing low back pain, between the ages of 18-60 years old and interested in the possibility of nine weeks of nonsurgical experimental treatment? If you answered yes to all three you may qualify for our research. What? New, innovative and fun virtual reality games are designed to help people with chronic back pain move and feel better. Where? All appointments, testing and treatments are conducted at VCU. When? Participation in the study involves 24 one-hour appointments scheduled over a 57-week period. Who?
