VCU Police Fall Safety Fair

Join VCU Police for their Fall Safety Fair on the Student Commons Plaza. Take a drive in the DriveSmart crash simulator, learn how to use a fire extinguisher or repair your bike with RamBikes mobile repair cart. Safety information topics include distracted driving, bike safety, automobile theft, alcohol education and bystander intervention. Free food and giveaways will be available while supplies last.

Book Launch ('Forgotten, Nudes, Landscapes') and Film Screening ('Talking About Trees') at ICA

Celebrate the release of 'Gideon Appah: Forgotten, Nudes, Landscapes,' a companion publication to the artist’s exhibition at the ICA last spring. The event will be held at VCU's Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. Appah, a Ghanaian artist known for paintings of nightlife scenes that are rich with references to archival newspaper clippings, films and event posters. This will be followed by a screening of the documentary "Talking About Trees" by Sudanese director Suhaib Gasmelbari.

Solo exhibitions include No Country for Old Men, MoMA PS1, New York (2006); and Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha, NE (2015).

Recreation and Well-Being Basic Life Support With First Aid Blending Learning Training
Basic Life Support with First Aid Training is intended for health care providers responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in various settings. Course skills specialize in CPR/AED and first aid along with communication and adaptability, which are crucial during an emergency response. This blended learning course contains a combination of digital and in-person instruction. Participants can choose one of the in-person sessions taking place on Nov. 8, 15 or 29. Recreation and Well-Being Lifeguard Review Course
This class is for currently certified lifeguards seeking recertification. Participants must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate or be within 30 days of expiration. Proof of certification must be submitted to the instructor prior to participation in the review. Successful completion of this class will provide students with an American Red Cross certificate in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen. Recreation and Well-Being Climbing Clinics
VCU's RecWell Outdoor Adventure Program offers a variety of climbing clinics throughout the semester at the Cary Street Gym climbing wall. Belay Clinics are held every Wednesday, 6-7 p.m. Other clinics include Sport Climbing, Climbing Technique and Gym to Crag. These clinics are open to VCU students and RecWell members.

Do You Vape Electronic Cigarettes?
Individuals who vape/use electronic cigarettes daily are needed to participate in a research study that requires multiple laboratory visits. Compensation will be provided. This study will be conducted at VCU. Principal investigator is Alison Breland, Ph.D., Department of Psychology.
