Road Closures, Monroe Park Campus: Today, Noon to 5 p.m.
The following roads will be closed today, Feb. 14 from noon to 5 p.m. for VCU's homecoming street painting: Franklin Street will be closed from North Harrison to North Laurel Street, Floyd Avenue will be closed from North Harrison Street to North Cherry Street and North Linden Street will be closed from Grove Avenue to Floyd Avenue.

The Essential Messages of Trauma-Responsive Practices

What does it mean to be trauma-informed and trauma-responsive, and how do these concepts apply to children with special education needs? The VCU Autism Center for Education will discuss the essential messages of a trauma-responsive practice as defined by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. The talk will be presented by Ruth Brown, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and assistant professor at the Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics at VCU. VCUarts Theatre To Present 'School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play'

"School Girls" is a biting comedy that follows Paulina and her squad of minions as they compete for the Miss Ghana pageant in 1986. Plans are foiled and secrets are spilled as the girls navigate high school social dynamics infused with colorism, classism and bullying. Film Screening: 'The Central Lunatic Asylum for the Colored Insane'

VCU School of Medicine's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Black Education Association will host a screening and discussion of the documentary. The film explores the history of the Central State Lunatic Asylum for the Colored Insane (now known as Central State Hospital), which opened in Petersburg in 1869 as the first psychiatric hospital in the U.S. to exclusively treat African American patients. PMP Exam Prep

VCU's Center for Corporate Education will present Project Management Professional Exam Prep. This six-session program will combine expert instruction with The CertWise Learning System for PMP Exam Preparation training materials. The course will help you learn faster, retain more knowledge and stay on track for success on the PMP exam. This course will be held Feb.28, March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2023 live, online via Zoom. Recreation and Well-Being OAP Belay and Climbing Clinics
Want to become more independent in rock climbing? Learning to belay allows you to climb with a partner and is a fundamental skill for all rock climbers. Outdoor Adventure Program staff will teach best practices for belaying and answer questions about climbing. Clinics are held every Wednesday evening 6-7 p.m. in the Cary St. Gym, 101 S.
