VCU to Conduct Test of Emergency Communications Today
VCU will conduct a full test of its emergency communications and alerting systems, including sirens throughout the Monroe Park and MCV campuses at noon today, Feb. 8. The full test will include the sirens along with text messages, Alertus boxes, mass email, digital signs, desktop alerts, LiveSafe, VCU Mobile, social media and VCU website information — all part of a multichannel system for communicating emergency information to VCU students, faculty, staff, visitors and the community. VCU Police will send out a text message to let the community know that all testing has concluded. Feedback can be emailed to VCU Emergency Management staff at vcualert@vcu.edu. Gilman Writing Workshop

VCU's Global Education Office will host its Gilman Writing Workshop in the SGA Senate Chambers, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. The Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship awards up to $5,000 for Pell Grant recipients studying or interning abroad. This workshop helps to maximize participants' chances of receiving this nationally competitive scholarship. Rest as Resistance: A Self-Care Group for Women of Color
Looking to improve your self-care routine? The Rest as Resistance group is a self-care group that empowers women of color to make rest and well-being a priority. The group will be offered in two sections: Mondays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (Suite 215, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave.) and Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. at 815 South Cathedral Place. Black Love Safe Love
This is a research study aiming to receive feedback on a sexual health intervention designed for couples. To be eligible to participate, you have to identity as Black or African American and be 18 to 35 years of age. The study requires participation in a 120-minute session and completion of a questionnaire. Amazon gift card compensation is available. Participation in this research study is voluntary.
