Former VCU Journalism Professor To Discuss Her Book on Pioneering Black Journalists

Local author, journalist and journalism educator Bonnie Newman Davis will discuss virtually her new book, "Truth Tellers: The Power and Presence of Black Women Journalists Since 1960," in which she chronicles the careers and lives of 24 Black women journalists nationwide who entered newsrooms during and after the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Davis is managing editor of the Richmond Free Press. She was associate professor of journalism at VCU from 2004-2011. Register at the following URL.

Like to Read? Be a Part of the Cabell First Novelist Award
This is an open call for all faculty/staff/students interested in reading for the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award. The award honors a debut novel written during the preceding calendar year. VCU Department of English and VCU Libraries are currently receiving entries for the 2023 award and help is needed to read and review submissions. This is a unique opportunity for individuals to get new and exciting work and contribute to the judging process.

Join RecWell’s Outdoor Adventure Program for a cross-country ski weekend Feb. 24-26 at White Grass Ski Touring Center in Canaan Valley, W.Va. White Grass features beginner, intermediate and advanced trails in an unusually steep cross-country area, with nearly 1,200 feet of vertical rise. No skiing experience is necessary.
