Ramadan Support

Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer and contemplation for the Muslim community, began Wednesday, March 22 and will end on Thursday, April 20 contingent upon the sighting of the new moon. Fasting may require abstaining from food and drink daily from sunrise to sunset. To assist VCU students, faculty, staff and the broader community while honoring their religious obligations, some adjustments may be necessary to participate in the various aspects of Ramadan. We advise our community members to proactively engage with their instructors to anticipate potential conflicts and explore possible accommodations. Your support will enable them to meet course requirements while remaining spiritually connected to the holy month’s practices. Students needing adjusted meal options should contact Aramark Hospitality at neff-pamela@aramark.com. Students are also invited to join nightly Taraweeh Prayer from 7-10 p.m. in the Rams Lounge.
