Presidential Awards for Community Multicultural Enrichment
The VCU and VCU Health communities are invited to attend the 2023 Presidential Awards for Community Multicultural Enrichment. This year’s recipients are Alena Hampton, Ph.D., LCP (Academic and Administrative Leadership); Lane Carasik, Ph.D., and Nikki Fernandes, (Faculty); Monique Sample (Staff) and Korinthia (Kori) Nicolai (Student). The President's Inclusive Excellence Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Faith Wilkerson, Ed.D. Speed Management Symposium
5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Richmond's Dept. of Public Works will host a speed management symposium at Main Street Station, 1500 E. Main St. All community members are welcome. Learn about new and upcoming projects addressing speed management and how the city is using road design and engineering, reducing speed limits and applying enforcement efforts to increase safety on roadways. Learn About Sexual Health With RecWell Peer Health Educators

Join RecWell’s Peer Health Educators in the in the lobby of the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., for an interactive, peer-led activity to reflect on wants, needs, tolerances and deal-breakers when it comes to romantic, familial, and platonic relationships. Mini-Symposium on Microbiome Science and Next Generation Sequencing

Math Colloquium: Classical and Modern Invariants of Knots
Friday, Apr. 21, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
VCU's Department of Mathematics will present Classical and Modern Invariant of Knots in Room 4169, Grace E. Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave. Kirsten Hendricks, Ph.D., Rutgers University, will introduce knot theory and discuss classical invariants of knots and what kind of geometric information they detect. A modern invariant called Heegaard Floer knot homology from the early 2000s will be introduced, including its properties and relationship to classical invariant. The session will be in Room 4169, Grace E. Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave.
