Black Lives Matter, Except When They Don't: AP African American Studies and Black Life

Join VCU's Department of History to hear from Robert J. Patterson, Ph.D., professor of African American Studies, who served as the inaugural chair of the Department of African American Studies at Georgetown University (2016-2019). In this lecture, Patterson will discuss the recent political controversies around AP African American Studies courses in Florida high schools and the broader issues of teaching race and diversity in the United States today and how they affect the lives of Black Americans. CHS-BEA African American Male Initiative Kickback Event

Mental Health Disparities in Marginalized Groups

Traffic and Parking Impacts on Monroe Park Campus, April 20-22

Automation and Controls Training
In partnership with VCU Continuing and Professional Education, VCU's College of Engineering will offer Automation and Controls Training, June 5-9, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and also Aug. 7-11. This introductory noncredit course in industrial automation is intended for engineers, technicians or supervisors who work in the area of industrial automation, but do not have in-depth knowledge of PLCs. Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Exercise
This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have PTSD or symptoms of PTSD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of PTSD symptoms on blood vessel function during acute exercise and following exercise training. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal investigator is Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
