McKelvey will provide a brief review of research on college student mental health and the themes identified through the focus groups and interviews, then share the results of the survey that was administered to transfer students in Virginia. Volunteers Sought for VCU President's Special Commission on Slavery and Justice

VCU's Office of the President launched Project Gabriel in spring 2023 to report, reconcile and heal the wounds caused by VCU’s historic ties to the institution of slavery. Project Gabriel is hosting a community forum on Tuesday, July 11, from 6-8 p.m. Several volunteers are needed to serve as table hosts to guide conversations for feedback.

Automation and Controls Training

In partnership with VCU Continuing and Professional Education, the College of Engineering will offer Automation and Controls Training, Aug. 7-11, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. This introductory noncredit course in industrial automation is intended for engineers, technicians or supervisors who work in the area of industrial automation, but do not have in-depth knowledge of PLCs. The class will be in Room 105, VCU College of Engineering West Hall. A degree in engineering is helpful, but not required. Early bird and group rates available. Register at the following URL.

The VCU Human Research Protection Program announces that the HRPP Tool Kit will go live on Friday, July 14. The Tool Kit includes resources for the research community that are designed to address the management of IRB submissions through the study life cycle, provide guidance on special topics and protocol templates that help research teams submit compliant protocols to the IRB.
