Make a Difference: Become a Geriatric Care Manager

Our communities need more certified Geriatric Care Managers, and now is a great time to jump into this fast-growing field. Complete the program at your own pace as either a full-time or part-time student. The entire program can be completed either in-person, online or a hybrid of both. Study Hall at the ICA
Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The ICA will be open late to use as a change of scenery to prep for finals. Come to the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St., for a free caffeine boost, a sweet treat and a safe space to study. No registration is necessary, but those who attend should bring a valid student ID.

Pomodoro Café at Pace Center

Looking for a relaxing place to study? The Pace Center, 700 W. Franklin St., will host a café using the Pomodoro method (30 minutes of study following by a 10-minute break). All are welcome to come prepare for finals.

Avaya Workplace and MyE911 Apps

In the coming months VCU Telecommunications Services will offer virtual training on the Avaya Workplace and MyE911 apps, which allows customers to extend their office number to their remote work site. The Avaya Workplace app is geared for remote workers. Callers can reach remote workers on any device by calling their work telephone number, and when placing a call the caller party will see their work number and not their mobile number. Massey at Belmont Golf Tournament

The Massey Alliance Young Professional Board extends an invitation to attend the Massey at Belmont Golf Tournament at the Belmont course, 1600 Hilliard Road, as either a golfer or sponsor. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit cancer research at VCU Massey Cancer Center. Golf will be followed by an after-party happy hour. Non-golfers are welcome to join the after party. Beverages will be available for purchase.

Extra Security Patrols During Finals
R.M.C. Security will conduct extra mobile and foot patrols in and around Cabell Library through Tuesday, May 9. This includes additional R.M.C. Security staff outside the library and on nearby blocks from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily through finals season. VCU Police officers patrol both of VCU’s campuses 24/7 and can be reached by calling (804) VCU-1234 at any time. Community members can also use the LiveSafe app to text with VCUPD dispatchers or send in safety tips.

Enrolling Now for TEENS, a Virtual Weight-Management Research Program for 12-16 Year-Olds
Are you concerned about your teen’s weight? We can help. TEENS is a research program that includes a four-month family-based lifestyle intervention - all conducted virtually - for teens ages 12 to 16 who are overweight or obese. The program is offered by Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. It includes weekly, virtual group classes for teens and parents that cover topics such as healthy eating, physical activity and goal-setting. Teens also participate in exercise sessions led by personal trainers.
