Be the Beat: Hands-Only CPR Awareness Training

VCU HR will help kick off National CPR and AED Awareness Week (June 1-7) with an online awareness event featuring Michelle Gossip, MSN, RN, cardiology program manager, VCU Health, who will discuss how and when to use hands-only CPR, what to do when calling 911, specific ways to take action and how to prepare for an emergency. Book Launch for 'Shakti'

Film Screening and Discussion Brown Bag: 'The Central Lunatic Asylum for the Colored Insane'
Wednesday, Jun. 14, 2023 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
This documentary illuminates the early history of mental health treatment for African Americans with a focus on the immediate aftermath of the Civil War and Emancipation, from 1865 to the early 1900s. Shawn Utsey, Ph.D., VCU Sociology, will discuss his film and research. Dessert and drinks will be provided. The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by VCU Libraries.
