Webcast: Mental Health, College Transfer Students and Project College Success
Monday, Jul. 10, 2023 at 2 p.m.
Susan McKelvey, Ph.D., will discuss Project College Success, an exploratory study consisting of project staff expertise, focus groups and interviews to inform the development of a survey on mental health concerns of transfer students from two- to four-year institutions of higher education in Virginia. McKelvey will provide a brief review of research on college student mental health and the themes identified through the focus groups and interviews, then share the results of the survey that was administered to transfer students in Virginia. Recreation and Well-Being First Aid, CPR and AED Training - Blended Learning
Saturday, Jul. 22, 2023 at 9 a.m.
RecWell will offer the American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course, which prepares participants to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. This course meets OSHA requirements for workplace CPR/AED and first aid training. Successful completion of this course provides participants with a certificate valid for two years. The class will be taught at the Cary Street Gym, 101 S. Linden St. Register at the following URL by Friday, July 14.

'When Breath Becomes Air' - Book Discussion

In his book, "When Breath Becomes Air," neurosurgeon Paul Kalanithi shares the transformational power of giving life as he attempts to answer the question: what makes life worth living in the face of death? An in-person discussion on this hopeful and informative memoir will be held at the Health and Wellness Library, VCU Health Gateway Building, ground floor, Room G-112, 1200 E. Volunteers Sought for VCU President's Special Commission on Slavery and Justice
VCU's Office of the President launched Project Gabriel in spring 2023 to report, reconcile and heal the wounds caused by VCU’s historic ties to the institution of slavery. Project Gabriel is hosting a community forum on Tuesday, July 11, from 6-8 p.m. Several volunteers are needed to serve as table hosts to guide conversations for feedback.
