A Message From VCU's Safety and Risk Management Occupational Safety Team
June is National Safety Month. According to the National Safety Council, preventable injuries (“accidents”) are the fourth-leading cause of death in the United States. The first step in safety is hazard recognition. Remember to take a moment to first understand your surroundings before taking action, whether it is a new work task, moving a heavy box or walking across the street. The Occupational Safety Team asks that you stay alert and if you see unsafe conditions or unsafe behaviors, tell someone (srm.vcu.edu / occsafety@vcu.edu).
