'Last Stop'
Friday, Jul. 7, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For the Femme in You will take over July and August First Fridays at VCU's ICA with “Last Stop,” a womxn-centered music showcase that will bring together DJs, lyricists and a selection of local vendors. The event will create a safe space for local BIPOC womxn DJs to share their new mixes, network with others in the music and arts industry and connect to the community. The café at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St., will be open until 7 p.m. offering refreshments and vegan treats from Davvero Gelato.

Principles of School-Based Play Therapy

VCU Continuing and Professional Education (APT Approved Provider 15-397) will present its workshop Principles of School-Based Play Therapy (16 contact hours) on Saturday and Sunday, July 22 and 23 from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at ChildSavers, 200 N. 22 St. The workshop is part of a series of noncredit workshops for licensed mental health professionals seeking the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or School-Based Registered Play Therapist (SB-RPT) credential.

Recreation and Well-Being First Aid, CPR and AED Training - Blended Learning
Saturday, Jul. 22, 2023 at 9 a.m.
RecWell will offer the American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course, which prepares participants to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. This course meets OSHA requirements for workplace CPR/AED and first aid training. Successful completion of this course provides participants with a certificate valid for two years. The class will be taught at the Cary Street Gym, 101 S. Linden St. Register at the following URL by July 14.

Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Exercise
This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have PTSD or symptoms of PTSD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of PTSD symptoms on blood vessel function during acute exercise and following exercise training. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator is Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

This study is seeking young females and males (18 to 35 years) to take part in nine weeks of aerobic exercise training. The purpose of this research study is to examine sex differences in cardiovascular adaptations in response to varying aerobic exercise training regimens. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator is Ryan Garten Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
