A Message From VCU's Safety and Risk Management Occupational Safety Team
August is National Safety Council’s Back to School Month. With students returning to campus this is a great time to review some safety tips to help keep everyone in the VCU community safe. When walking on campus always use sidewalks and walk facing traffic. Only cross streets at the crosswalk when the pedestrian signal indicates it is your turn to do so. Make sure to look both ways before proceeding. Stay alert and avoid distracted walking. If you are riding a bike, make sure to ride on the right side of the road. Always come to a complete stop at all stop signs and red lights. Avoid distracted riding. While driving around campus, make sure to obey the speed limit. Make eye contact with pedestrians when they are crossing the road. Obey all traffic signs and signals and remember to look twice before making a right turn on red. Together we can make this a safe start to the 2023 fall semester. Questions: Email occsafety@vcu.edu.
