'Last Stop'

The event will create a safe space for local BIPOC womxn DJs to share their new mixes, network with others in the music and arts industry and connect to the community. The café at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St., will be open until 7 p.m. offering refreshments and vegan treats from Davvero Gelato. Recreation and Well-Being Beginner Adult Swim Lessons Summer Session 2

This class is open to individuals who are new to the aquatic environment and to those who want to become more independent in the water. Classes are taught by trained instructors in a small-group format. Session 2 classes will be held at Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center, 101 S. Linden St., Monday, July 10-Wednesday, Aug. 2, Monday and Wednesday, 6-7 p.m. Register by Wednesday, July 7 at noon.

Get outdoors this summer with RecWell’s Outdoor Adventure Program. Activities are open to VCU students and RecWell Members. Trip dates (registration deadlines) are: day caving, Saturday, July 8 (7/3); False Cape day hike Saturday, July 15 (7/10); and backpacking weekend Saturday-Sunday, July 22-23 (7/17).

2023 ACCESS Symposium Call for Abstracts Due July 31

Join VCU's School of Medicine for the annual ACCESS symposium focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion in the global era. The committee will be accepting abstracts from basic clinical and translational research, innovation in acute care and/or low-resource settings and educational programs and initiatives related to public health, global health, acute care or low-resource settings. Submit entries by Monday, July 31 at the following URL. Entries should include an introduction, methods, results and discussion.

Move-In Volunteers Needed

VCU Residential Life and Housing seeks volunteers to assist with "Move-In 2023" on Friday, Aug. 18, and Saturday, Aug. 19. Volunteers will help with everything from unloading vehicles to pushing move-in carts to passing out water and treats. Sign up at the following URL.

Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Exercise

This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have PTSD or symptoms of PTSD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of PTSD symptoms on blood vessel function during acute exercise and following exercise training. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator is Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

This study is seeking young females and males (18 to 35 years) to take part in nine weeks of aerobic exercise training. The purpose of this research study is to examine sex differences in cardiovascular adaptations in response to varying aerobic exercise training regimens. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator is Ryan Garten Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
