VCU to Conduct Test of Emergency Communications Today
VCU will conduct a full test of its emergency communications and alerting systems, including outdoor sirens, on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses and at the VCU Police Department’s headquarters, 224 E. Broad St., at noon today, Wednesday, Sept. 6. The test will include a one-minute siren activation, along with text messages, Alertus boxes, mass email, digital signs, desktop alerts, the LiveSafe app, the VCU Mobile app, the VCU Facebook page and VCU Alert website information — all part of a multichannel system for communicating emergency information to the university and the surrounding community. Men of Color Game Night

Men's Multicultural Collective, an office-led group for all students who identify as Men of Color at VCU, will host a game night. The event will be in the MAC Room (second-floor indoor turf field), Cary Street Gym, 101 S. Linden St. Those who attend will be able to play various games and climb the leaderboard in pursuit of winning prizes. Pizza will be provided for those who attend. Representatives from RecWell will give tours of the facilities and talk about how to become involved with club sports on campus.

Support Rams in Recovery for National Recovery Month
Rams in Recovery hosts virtual and in-person events that support students seeking recovery from substance use disorder. The organization hopes to convert the Recovery Clubhouse into a 24-hour café where community members can gather for lectures, open mic nights and conversation.

Rams in Recovery Naloxone Trainings
Rams in Recovery hosts weekly free naloxone trainings. Naloxone is a safe drug that reverses opioid overdoses and is an important tool in combating the opioid epidemic. Individuals With Blood Pressures Between 120/80 - 130/90 mmHg Are Invited to Participate in a Research Study
We are inviting male and female participants with elevated blood pressure between the ages of 18-45 years to participate in a study to examine how the time of day that you eat affects your blood pressure, blood vessel function and kidney function. This study involves a screening visit to determine eligibility; two single-day interventions where you will eat a meal that we provide in the morning or late at night; and two visits to our laboratory. The study involves collection of blood and urine samples, in addition to blood pressure, blood vessel, and body composition assessments. The study is conducted at VCU Kinesiology and Health Sciences Building on the Monroe Park Campus.
