The VCU Military Student Services Office will hold a Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony at the VCU Student Commons Plaza. A wreath will be laid and taps will be played as a moment is taken to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11/01. Following the ceremony there will be an opportunity to socialize and "hike the plaza" in honor of the fallen.

Critical AI: A Field in Formation

The Elske v.P. Smith Distinguished Lecture: Carolyn Eastman, Ph.D.

Our collective experience with the Covid pandemic revealed the racial, class and gendered effects of the disease on the world's population. Did earlier epidemics have similar effects? Carolyn Eastman, Ph.D., VCU Department of History, will reveal the surprising results of yellow fever on different populations, which cycled through American cities during the 1790s. This talk casts new light on how we address disease and who is deputized to serve on the front lines. The lecture will be in the Richmond Salons, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

UCS Advocacy Program Has a New Name
University Counseling Services Victim Advocacy Program has a new name: Survivor Support Services. The Survivor Support Services program will continue to provide victim advocacy that consists of confidential and non-therapeutic support to students who have experienced sexual assault, stalking, domestic/intimate partner violence or harassment.

Recreation and Well-Being Aquatics Private and Semiprivate Swim Lessons
Private swimming lessons and semiprivate swimming lessons are available to VCU students and RecWell members ages 2 and older. Lessons are taught by certified water safety instructors and are available in packages of two, four and six sessions. Sessions can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes in length. The Ram Pantry Has Moved
The Ram Pantry has moved to 930 W. Grace and will be open for walk-ins Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The pantry provides emergency food and resources to full-time students experiencing financial insecurity.

New Travel Management Company and System Coming in September
VCU Procurement Services recently announced the award of a new Travel Management contract to Collegiate Travel Planners (CTP). Beginning Monday, Sept. 18, CTP will provide both full service/agent assisted and an on-line booking tool. CTP will present a demonstration of the on-line booking tool at the Wednesday, Sept. 13 Fiscal Administrators meeting and provide VCU virtual training on Sept 19th and 20th. Exploring Parenting and Race: VCU's AYA Research Team Needs You

Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Sex Differences in Response to Aerobic Exercise Training
This study is seeking young females and males (18 to 35 years) to take part in nine weeks of aerobic exercise training. The purpose of this research study is to examine sex differences in cardiovascular adaptations in response to varying aerobic exercise training regimens. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator is Ryan Garten Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
