Recreation and Well-Being Water Safety Instructor Training

This course will prepare participants to plan and teach courses within the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Courses include preschool aquatics, learn-to-swim, and safety training for swim coaches. The program runs Sept. 26-Nov. 16 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Register by Friday, Sept. 15.

Recreation and Well-Being OAP Student Outdoor Leadership Experiences (SOLE) Applications Open

The OAP offers Student Outdoor Leadership Experiences (SOLE). This intensive training is the foundation of the OAP trips program and is designed to provide opportunities for skill development, personal growth and leadership experience for potential OAP student leaders, using the outdoors as the classroom. Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Exercise

This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have GAD or symptoms of GAD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of GAD symptoms on blood vessel function during acute exercise and in response to exercise training. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

Individuals With Blood Pressures Between 120/80 - 130/90 mmHg Are Invited to Participate in a Research Study

We are inviting male and female participants with elevated blood pressure between the ages of 18-45 years to participate in a study to examine how the time of day that you eat affects your blood pressure, blood vessel function and kidney function. This study involves a screening visit to determine eligibility; two single-day interventions where you will eat a meal that we provide in the morning or late at night; and two visits to our laboratory. The study involves collection of blood and urine samples, in addition to blood pressure, blood vessel, and body composition assessments. The study is conducted at VCU Kinesiology and Health Sciences Building on the Monroe Park Campus.
