Trademarks and Licensing Vendor Fair

The VCU Office of Trademarks and Licensing will host a vendor fair in Room 303, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. Students, faculty and staff are invited to meet with licensed vendors who can help produce VCU-branded products for departmental use, student groups, giveaways, promotions and more. Refreshments will be provided while supplies last.

Ramtoberfest Beer Garden at VCU Volleyball

VCU volleyball invites VCU faculty, staff and students to enjoy the on-court Beer Garden (21+) at the Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St., during its Ramtoberfest Series. Tickets are free for VCU faculty, staff and students. Present your valid VCU ID at the ticket office upon arrival. Additional tickets can be purchased on site for friends and family members.

GDES Designer-In-Residence Presentation

Rosen Eveleigh, this year's visiting Designer-In-Residence, VCU's Department of Graphic Design, will give a presentation in the theater of the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Eveleigh is a graphic designer, researcher and teacher interested in the historic and methodological relationship between graphic design and queer culture. Eveleigh works with artists, archives, cultural institutions, curators, editors and publishers to produce books, graphic identities, typefaces, websites, texts and other works.

Loose Parts: Experiments in Play

The ICA will screen two films about the culture of adventure play and scenes from Corin Hewitt’s in-process film, “Fountain.” ICA Director Dominic Asmall Willsdon will then introduce Hewitt’s proposal for a new long-term play space in Richmond. Louisa Penfold, Harvard Graduate School of Education, will discuss the historical relationship between play and art, then facilitate a conversation involving Hewitt, artist Brandon Ndife and Hitoshi Shimamura (director of Tokyo Play). Nationwide Emergency Alert Test: Wednesday, Oct. 4
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct nationwide tests of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The WEA test will be directed to all cellphones. The EAS test will be sent to radios and televisions. Testing ensures that systems are an effective means of warning the public about nationwide emergencies.

Recreation and Well-Being Personal Training Fitness Consult
The Fitness Consult is a flexible session that allows participants to work one-on-one with a Certified Personal Trainer to ask questions, perform fitness assessments specific to your individual goals and develop a fitness program. This 90-minute session is geared for those who might not need full guidance from a trainer but want to learn more about equipment, progressions or general health status. Consultations are available at both Cary Street Gym, 101 S. Linden St., and the Jonah L. Larrick Student Center (MCV Campus Recreation Center), 900 Turpin St. Registration is ongoing.

Flu Immunization Clinics for VCU Faculty and Staff
As a convenience to university faculty and staff working on campus, VCU Human Resources has arranged for Walgreens, a participating pharmacy with the COVA health plans, to conduct four flu immunization clinics during September and October on both campuses.
