Real-Time Data Fusion for Disease Forecasting Models

Amigurumi Crochet Workshop

Join the Asian American and Pacific Islander Affinity in crocheting amigurumi, the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. All skill levels are welcome. Limited crochet materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies. Recreation and Well-Being Mindful Ambassador Program Training

RecWell’s Mindful Ambassador Program aims to identify students, faculty and staff who are interested in creating a mindful revolution and healthier campus community. In this workshop, participants will learn about various types of meditation, belly breathing, mindful posture and special considerations for leading meditation with others. Those who complete the workshop will receive additional resources to lead meditation in the community along with a campus leadership sticker. VCU Choirs Fall Concert

Join VCU Choirs and VCU Percussion in a collaborative concert, “From Stardust to Raindrops: A Journey through Echoing Skies.” Hear the groups perform pieces that will take you through the cosmos, Earth’s open sky and the drops of rain found within. The concert will be in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall, W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave.. VCU Police Adjust Patrols for End of Daylight Saving Time
Daylight saving time will end on Sunday, Nov. 5, which pushes back clocks in Virginia by one hour. To accommodate this seasonal change with earlier sunsets, VCU Police will increase patrols around VCU parking decks and lots on both campuses during the evening rush hours from 5 to 7 p.m. throughout November. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and use caution while traveling, especially when outdoor visibility is reduced during this seasonal change.

'Surviving and Thriving: AIDS, Politics and Culture,' an Exhibit From the National Library of Medicine
This traveling exhibit from the National Library of Medicine focuses on the AIDS epidemic that arose in the United States in the 1980s. The exhibit explores human stories in the ever-changing relationship between science and society. It will be on view in the Special Collections and Archives Reading Room of the Health Sciences Library, 509 N. 12th St., from Nov. 6 to Dec. 16.

Social Psychology and Neuroscience Lab Recruitment
VCU's Social Psychology and Neuroscience lab is recruiting undergraduate research assistants who wish to gain research experience. Under the direction of David Chester, Ph.D., this lab studies aggression and the psychological mechanisms that propel aggression such as pain, pleasure and self-regulation. Undergraduate assistants can expect to build strong research skills, learning both psychological and neurobiological measures.

Adrienne Baldwin-White, Ph.D., School of Social Work, Invites You to Participate in a Paid Research Study
This study aims to understand how the culture around someone’s most salient social identity affects their perceptions of gender-based violence, how they respond to survivors and examine the dating and relationship norms of their cultural community.
