This MRI study explores how genetic and brain factors impact cognitive processes after recent alcohol consumption. To participate, you must be 21-45 years old at the time of the MRI session, have consumed alcohol at least once in your life, be free of major health problems, free of current drug abuse, right-hand dominant, not pregnant or suspecting pregnancy, and free of metallic implants in your body. A VCU student is conducting a 5-10 minute survey of VCU students' medical opinions and exposure to alternative medicine as part of the ANTH 380: Medical Anthropology class. This survey is fully anonymous and asks questions about trust in medical professionals, history of medical trauma and the reasons you use alternative practices. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as Black or African American are invited to participate in a research study examining the effect of acute and chronic stress on cardiovascular and inflammation responses to an acute mental challenge. Raffle drawings for financial compensation will be conducted. This study will take place at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

Participants are sought who can attend three 90-minute sessions, are open to sharing their experience and willing to photograph their "voice." $25 paid for each session for participation. Participants must be a first-generation student and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
