VCU to Conduct Test of Emergency Communications at Noon Today
VCU will conduct a full test of its emergency communications and alerting systems, including outdoor sirens, on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses and at the VCU Police Department’s headquarters, 224 E. Broad St., at noon today, Feb. 7. The test will include a one-minute siren activation, along with text messages, Alertus boxes, mass email, digital signs, desktop alerts, the LiveSafe app, the VCU Mobile app, the VCU Facebook page and VCU Alert website information — all part of a multichannel system for communicating emergency information to the university and the surrounding community. MentorVA: Combating White Saviorism

Progress Reports Due No Later Than Feb. 12
It’s time for faculty to submit progress reports for undergraduate students who need a nudge to improve their performance. It’s especially important for faculty to submit reports for students with attendance issues since attendance is strongly related to class grades and GPA (Credé et al., 2010). Individuals With Blood Pressures Between 120/80 - 130/90 mmHg Invited to Participate in a Research Study
We are inviting male and female participants with elevated blood pressure between the ages of 18-45 years to participate in a study to examine how the time of day that you eat affects your blood pressure, blood vessel function and kidney function. This study involves a screening visit to determine eligibility; two single-day interventions where you will eat a meal that we provide in the morning or late at night; and two visits to our laboratory. The study involves collection of blood, saliva and urine samples, in addition to blood pressure, blood vessel and body composition assessments. The study is conducted at VCU Kinesiology and Health Sciences Building on the Monroe Park Campus. Participants will be compensated for their time completing the study. Participants Are Invited For Study Examining the Impact of Cold Water Immersion on Symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have GAD or symptoms of GAD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of cold water immersion on GAD symptoms with specific focus on blood vessel function. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. The principle investigator is Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
