Last Chance To Participate in VCU Stress Reduction Study

The VCU Wellbeing Lab invites you to participate in a research study on two stress reduction programs for undergraduate students. VCU investigators seek to understand how two online stress reduction programs affect students’ mood and stress-related behavior. Compensation is available. Life and Limb: The Toll of the American Civil War
Monday, Mar. 11, 2024 at 8 a.m.
This traveling exhibit from the National Library of Medicine will be at the Health Sciences Library from March 11-April 19. The exhibit examines the annals of American Civil War medical history, exploring the accounts of surgeons, physicians and nurses. It delves into the valor and harsh realities of battlefield medical procedures. Hundreds of thousands were permanently disabled by battlefield injuries or surgery, which often saved lives by sacrificing limbs. The exhibit will be at the Health Sciences Library, 509 N. 12th St., Special Collections and Archives Reading Room.

Mindful Communication For Relationship Building and Asking For Support

When Identity Safety Meets Implicit Bias: Myths, Evidence and Solutions

Have you ever wondered how implicit biases show up on campus and in classrooms, impacting both educators and students? Social psychologist and former congressional fellow Luis Rivera, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Rutgers University and director of the Rutgers Implicit Social Cognition Lab, will offer a presentation on implicit bias-in-action, highlighting current research, as well as offering solutions to this problem, with a focus on identity-safe classrooms. The event will be sponsored by the VCU College of Humanities and Sciences and the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee. The talk will be in Room 112, STEM Building, 817 W. Recreation and Well-Being Intramural Sports Volleyball, Outdoor Soccer, Softball Leagues
RecWell’s Intramural spring season continues with 6v6 Volleyball, 9v9 Softball and 9v9 Outdoor Soccer Leagues. Games will be played March 24-April 30. Registration runs through Thursday, March 21. To register, participants must purchase a $10 season pass that allows access to all Intramural Sports activities throughout the semester.

Tornado Safety Reminder From VCU Emergency Management
The chances for a tornado in Virginia increase in the spring and summer. If the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning for Richmond, VCU’s Alert system will be activated; take shelter indoors in the lowest level of the building you are in or the innermost room. VCU’s DUO Authentication Change on March 18
On Monday, March 18, VCU customers will see a change in how they sign into the Central Authentication Service (CAS) and Microsoft platforms using the DUO application. On this date, VCU will implement the new DUO Security Universal Prompt with Verified Push. The Universal Prompt looks different from the traditional prompt and offers a more secure authentication method. For more details, visit the following URL.
