VCUarts Dance and Choreography To Present 'TWO TRUTHS: Truth 1'
7:30 p.m.
VCUarts Dance and Choreography will present “TWO TRUTHS: Truth 1” Fall 2023 Senior Project Concert. Holly Trenbath, a senior in the Dance Department, will present a senior capstone project at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. The performance is $10 for general admission and $5 with a VCU ID. Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR): Three Steps To Help Save A Life From Suicide
Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. Participants will receive access to digital QPR booklet, further reading and a digital certificate of completion. Richmond Youth Development Network will host the event, which will feature facilitators Robin Pentecost and Travis Fellows of the Goochland Powhatan Community Service Board. This training will introduce participants to critical mentoring, an approach to mentoring which emphasizes power, privilege, social justice and equity. Participants will gain an understanding of critical mentoring and how to create more equitable and impactful mentoring relationships. The free session will be at the Mary and Frances Youth Center, 120 S. Linden St. Richmond Youth Development Network will host facilitator Tamice Spencer-Helms of Mentor Virginia.

Mindful On Life: Mindful-Based Restorative Strategies for Overall Self Care

Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully living in the moment. A self-care routine is a daily journey of intentional living and being mindful about physical, mental and emotional well-being. Educators will be introduced to a variety of mindful-based interventions and strategies to support their own personal well-being. Participants Needed for Fully Remote Eating Disorder Treatment Study
The Research on Excessive, Persistent and Emotion-based Actions and Traits (REPEAT) Lab at VCU is seeking adults who have recently had intensive treatment for symptoms of anorexia nervosa to participate in a fully remote treatment study comparing two interventions. Individuals With Blood Pressures Between 120/80-130/90 mmHg Are Invited to Participate in a Research Study
We are inviting male and female participants with elevated blood pressure between the ages of 18-45 years to participate in a study to examine how the time of day that you eat affects your blood pressure, blood vessel function and kidney function. This study involves a screening visit to determine eligibility; two single-day interventions where you will eat a meal that we provide in the morning or late at night; and two visits to our laboratory. The study involves collection of blood, saliva and urine samples, in addition to blood pressure, blood vessel and body composition assessments. The study is conducted at VCU Kinesiology and Health Sciences Building on the Monroe Park Campus. Participants will be compensated for their time completing the study.
