When Identity Safety Meets Implicit Bias: Myths, Evidence and Solutions

Social psychologist and former congressional fellow Luis Rivera, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Rutgers University and director of the Rutgers Implicit Social Cognition Lab, will offer a presentation on implicit bias-in-action, highlighting current research, as well as offering solutions to this problem, with a focus on identity-safe classrooms. Severe Weather Awareness Week Through Friday, March 8
Severe weather can be sudden and can impact anyone. VCU’s Emergency Management team encourages everyone to follow local weather reports to prepare for forecasted local weather impacts. Severe weather may include tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, hail, lightning, wind and flash flooding. Because of the sudden impact of some weather events, having an emergency kit available in your residence and/or vehicle is recommended. Recreation and Well-Being Lifeguarding Instructor Training
This course will prepare individuals to plan and teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses. Lifeguarding Instructors can also bridge to other disciplines within the American Red Cross program, including CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, basic CPR/AED, First Aid, and Basic Life Support. The program runs March 19-April 4, Tuesday/Thursday, 4-8 p.m. at Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center, 101 S. Linden St. Register by March 11.
