Career Opportunities for Students in Criminal Justice and Public Service

Students interested in law enforcement are invited to speak with VCU Police staff. Take courses or classes in all levels of degree programs for free, work toward student loan forgiveness and receive a full salary and benefits as a VCU Police officer. Women's Health and Wellness Trip to Guatemala: May 25-June 1, 2024

Be a part of the VCU Institute for Women’s Health and Highland Support Project. Spend a week in partnership with indigenous midwives and community leaders. Learn about traditional Mayan medicine and explore the history of health care and healing in Guatemala. The summer study abroad group will learn about traditional medicine, midwifery and healing practices. Trip dates are May 25-June 1. The cost is $1,300 (plus air fare).

Mindful Moms for Pregnancy

Mindful Moms Program welcomes those who are 12-26 weeks pregnant to participate in free prenatal yoga or education classes during their pregnancy. Mindful Moms is an NIH-funded study seeking to understand how to best enhance mental health and well-being during pregnancy. The program is for those who are feeling stressed, anxious or depressed. The program is available in English and Spanish.

Participants Are Invited For Study Examining the Impact of Cold Water Immersion on Symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have PTSD or symptoms of PTSD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of cold water immersion on PTSD symptoms with specific focus on blood vessel function. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. The principle investigator is Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
