AAAC Mentoring Circle Mocktail Party

The African American Alumni Council Mentoring Circle mocktail party will be held in Rodney's Lounge, Shafer Court Dining Center, 810 Cathedral Place. The circle connects current VCU African American undergraduate students with VCU African American alumni who share common professional aspirations and interests. Mentors are asked to promote and encourage academic excellence, provide guidance in socially navigating the collegiate community experience, model networking and proper social etiquette and offer advice on career success. This event also celebrates the participants of the program and acknowledges the end of the year for the 2023-2024 cohort.

Participants Are Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Acute and Chronic Stress on Cardiovascular Health
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as Black or African American are invited to participate in a research study examining the effect of acute and chronic stress on cardiovascular and inflammation responses to an acute mental challenge. Raffle drawings for financial compensation will be conducted. This study will take place at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

Brain Health After Breast Cancer Chemotherapy and in Healthy Volunteers
Chemotherapy may impact memory, attention, processing speed, multitasking and problem-solving. We hope to improve our understanding of these difficulties and identify women who are at the most risk for having them. We are seeking healthy female volunteers (35-68 years) free of MRI contraindications. Participation involves two study visits 12-18 months apart. Visits include brain MRI and online assessments.
