The University Academic Advising Board Awards and Grants Committee has launched the 2024 Awards Cycle. The UAAB Awards Program encourages support and recognition of outstanding advising at VCU. Awards are presented across several different categories to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in advising, innovation and administration. Career Opportunities for Those Interested in Criminal Justice and Public Service

Students interested in law enforcement are invited to speak with VCU Police. Take courses in all levels of degree programs for free, work toward student loan forgiveness and receive a competitive salary and benefits as an officer. VCU students receive a $5,000 bonus upon completing the academy and field training. The 50th Academy starts in fall 2024. Applicants who are made a conditional offer may qualify for the department’s Law Enforcement Apprenticeship Program (LEAP).

Fixing Your Gut May Reduce Alcohol Intake

Beneficial gut microbes may be the answer. VCU is inviting people who drink and want to stop or reduce drinking habits. This includes people who are at least 18 years old and who drink any types of alcohol on a regular basis to participate in a seven-month study. Participants will receive a physical exam and study medication (active drug or a placebo). All appointments are confidential and all study visits are provided at no cost. Compensation will be provided. The PI is Jasmohan Bajaj, MD.
