Dialogue to Action: Community-Building Circles To Foster a Culture of Respect and a Shared Sense of Belonging In-Person

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is launching a new resource to foster more meaningful intergroup relationships and communications. A series of community-building circles open to faculty, staff and students is scheduled over the next few months. The activities seek to create a sense of belonging through sharing stories and active listening and build and strengthen relationships. VCU Health Cultural Festival
Saturday, Jun. 15, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
VCU Health and cosponsors will host the inaugural Cultural Festival on 12th Street between Broad and Marshall streets across from the the Gateway Building valet entrance on the MCV Campus. The free festival will celebrate the diverse cultures represented in the communities VCU Health serves and will feature live music, dancing performances, food trucks, health screenings, face painting, balloon art and a cultural health presentation.Free parking will be available at the Children's Hospital of Richmond Pavilion, 1000 E. Broad St.

Virtual Safe Zone Training - Pride Organizations From VCU

The Interprofessional Pride Collaborative from VCU, VCU Health and University Counseling Services will host Safe Zone training via Zoom. Open to all, the goals of the event are to increase awareness of LGBTQQIA+ communities and identities; deepen understanding of sex, gender and sexuality while also considering other intersecting identities (e.g., race, ethnicity, religious/spiritual orientation); address such challenges as heterosexism and transphobia and build advocacy skills for Queer staff and students. Health Sciences Interprofessional Pride Mixer (#OneVCU Pride Mixer)

The Interprofessional Pride Collaborative, consisting of Pride organizations from VCU and VCU Health, will host a Health Sciences Interprofessional Pride Mixer. This event is open to all students, faculty and staff of VCU and VCU Health. Participants will have the opportunity to embrace community while working to enhance LGBTQIA+ visibility in the health sciences. Lunch will be provided. The session will be in the ninth floor conference room of the Outpatient Pavilion building 1001 E. Leigh St., 12th floor.

Participants Are Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Acute and Chronic Stress on Cardiovascular Health
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as Black or African American are invited to participate in a research study examining the effect of acute and chronic stress on cardiovascular and inflammation responses to an acute mental challenge. Raffle drawings for financial compensation will be conducted. This study will take place at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus.
