Volunteers Needed for Full-Scale Training Exercise

VCU Emergency Management will host a full-scale, multijurisdictional training exercise on the Monroe Park Campus on Thursday, July 25. Volunteers are sought to act as casualties for the duration of the training. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, must sign a liability waiver and photo release and be willing to have simulated injuries applied to them. Want to volunteer? Email the following address.

Global Zone Training - Micro-Credentials and Digital Badge Opportunity

The Global Education Office offers VCU employees the opportunity to earn micro-credentials and a digital badge through the Global Zone Training workshop as they gain knowledge, skills and resources for teaching and supporting international students and scholars. RecWell Outdoor Adventure Day Caving

Join RecWell’s Outdoor Adventure Program on Saturday, July 13 for a day of caving in western Virginia. This beginner-friendly trip, is open to VCU students and RecWell members. No caving experience is needed. Explore the vast caverns beneath us and learn about cave formations first-hand from our experienced leaders. Transportation, equipment and guides will be provided. RecWell Outdoor Adventure Program Weekly Activities

RecWell’s Outdoor Adventure Program offers free activity clinics, including beginners’ whitewater rafting, flat-water standup paddlboarding and whitewater rafting. The program is open to VCU Students and RecWell members. Clinics are held on select Wednesdays from 3-7 p.m. starting June 26. See the schedule at the following URL.

RecWell Small Group Training Summer Sweat Session Two

Registration is open for RecWell’s Small Group Training program Summer Sweat Session Two. Participants work with a certified personal trainer to learn the foundational methods of cardio and resistance training and program design, using a variety of equipment throughout the fitness center to build skill and knowledge of proper technique and progressions. Session Two runs July 10-Aug. 19, Mondays and Wednesdays 4-5 p.m. Register at the following URL.

RecWell Personal Training Packages

RecWell’s personal training packages are available to VCU students and RecWell members. Participants are guided through an exercise program customized to meet their specific needs by a certified personal trainer, a dedicated fitness professional who is committed to supporting client progress. Registration Openings for Creative Arts Day Camp

Openings are available for the VCUarts Department of Art Education's Creative Arts Day Camp for children rising into grades K-9. Classes are taught by graduate and undergraduate art education students on the VCU campus. Email artedcadc@vcu.edu to register. Motor Learning Study (Located at the VCU Collaborative Advanced Research Imaging Center on the Monroe Park Campus)

We are currently recruiting participants for a motor learning study. This research is being done to investigate how you learn new movements. You will be asked to complete an MRI scan while wearing an electrode cap and playing a virtual joystick game. You must be right-handed and between the ages of 18 and 40 to participate. Compensation of $20 is available for your participation, and the study takes about one hour.

LGBTQIA+/First-Generation Student Research Study - Paid Opportunity

Participants are sought who can attend three 90-minute sessions, are open to sharing their experience and willing to photograph their "voice." Participants will be paid $25 for each session. Participants must be a first-generation student and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
