The Dobbs Decision: Looking at the Health Policy Consequences Two Years Later

What effect has the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision had on reproductive rights and health policy in the U.S.? Wendy Klein, M.D., MACP, associate professor emerita of internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology at the VCU School of Medicine, will offer insights via Zoom into the consequences and challenges that have emerged from this pivotal moment when the constitutional protections for abortion established by Roe v. Reverence and Remembrance: Contextualizing the East Marshall Street Well Project

The exhibit is sponsored by Postdoctoral Services in collaboration with the VCU Postdoctoral Association.

Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center Closure
The Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center, 101 S. Linden St., will be closed for maintenance and repairs Monday, June 17 through Sunday, June 30. The spa will reopen Sunday, July 14.

RecWell Outdoor Adventure Day Hike
RecWell’s Outdoor Adventure Program invites VCU students and RecWell members to escape the city for a day in the Blue Ridge mountains and reconnect with nature. RecWell Faculty/Staff Summer Pickleball League
RecWell invites all faculty and staff to participate in a summer indoor pickleball league, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-5 p.m., through Thursday, July 25. There is no requirement to participate in every session. Games will be held at Cary Street Gym, 101 S. Linden St. Equipment will be provided or bring your own. Sign up individually or as a pair. RecWell Adult Beginner Swim Lessons Session Two
RecWell offers adult beginner swim lessons geared for participants who are comfortable in the water but wish to learn basic skills such as floating, treading water and coordination for swimming strokes. Lessons will primarily be taught in shallow water, but participants will practice supporting themselves in deeper water throughout the class. Summer Session Two runs Monday, July 15-Saturday, Aug. 17, Monday/Wednesday, 6:05-7 p.m. at Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center, 101 S. Linden St. Register by Friday, July 12 at noon.

VCU's Mary and Frances Youth Center, 120 S. Linden St., offers free open court pickleball play for all from 4:30-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays. Bring a friend, colleague or neighbor. No equipment needed.

Participants Are Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Acute and Chronic Stress on Cardiovascular Health
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as Black or African American are invited to participate in a research study examining the effect of acute and chronic stress on cardiovascular and inflammation responses to an acute mental challenge. Raffle drawings for financial compensation will be conducted. This study will take place at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus.
