VCU, City of Richmond To Hold Training Exercise Today, July 25
VCU and the City of Richmond will conduct a training exercise today, Thursday, July 25, outside University Student Commons on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. There will be a heavy presence of police, EMTs, firefighters and emergency vehicles from various agencies in the area. The exercise will include a simulated hazardous materials emergency and volunteers will role-play as victims on site. University Student Commons and the Grace E. Harris Hall Auditorium, as well as the walkway between these facilities, will be closed to the public during the training.
There will be road closures today, Thursday, July 25 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to include: 1) North Linden Street between Park Avenue and Floyd Avenue, 2) Floyd Avenue between North Harrison and North Cherry streets and 3) North Cherry Street between Floyd Avenue and West Main Street. Street parking will not be available during the exercise on West Main Street between Cherry Street and Floyd Avenue.

Volunteer for Residential Life and Housing Move-in Weekend

VCU Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center Pilot Grant Applications Due July 26
The Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center offers a pilot grants program which funds innovative scientific investigations and helps fuel more independent and interdisciplinary research in Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Projects may be clinical, translational or basic science. Awards are for one year and up to $50,000. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, July 26. Email the following address for more information.
