VCU Will Conduct a Monthly Siren Test Today at Noon
Virginia Commonwealth University will conduct a test of its emergency siren system at noon today, Wednesday, Sept. 11. During a scheduled test of VCU’s emergency communications system on Sept. 4, the university’s siren system did not fully activate. VCU Police, VCU Tech Services and the service provider have been working to resolve the malfunction. More than one activation of the siren system may be necessary today to ensure it is fully operational. VCU will distribute text alerts to notify the community 10 minutes before each test, as well as at the conclusion of testing.

Progress Reports Due No Later Than Monday, Sept. 16
It’s time to submit progress reports for undergraduate students who need a nudge to improve their performance. It’s especially important for faculty to submit reports for students with attendance issues since attendance is strongly related to class grades and GPA (Credé et al., 2010). 2024 Annual Staff Survey Results
VCU Human Resources has published the results of the 2024 Annual Staff Survey. The surveys help HR understand how staff members are feeling about their work experience at VCU. In this way programs and services can be shaped in alignment with staff needs. Major Budgeting Unit (MBU) leaders and Human Resources Professionals (HRPs) received their MBU-level results via email and have been encouraged to discuss them with their managers and teams. University-level results have been published to the web.

Monday, Sept. 16 by 4 p.m. is the quarterly deadline for participants in the Virginia Retirement System Hybrid Plan to elect voluntary contributions to become effective in October. Employees in this plan can elect to voluntarily contribute up to four percent (4%) of their creditable salary to receive up to a 2.5 percent employer match.
