'Humanities and AI: Large Language Models and the Returns of Critical Theory'

The Humanities Research Center will feature a talk by Wendy Chun as part of its Technology Humanities Speaker Series. In this talk, Chun will explore how fundamental concepts and axioms within critical theory and natural language processing intersect: from the notion that value stems from difference to the mapping of latent and manifest spaces. 2024 Gulak Lecture: Car-Optional Neighborhoods for the New Era

Doctoral Lecture Series: 'Volunteers in the Parks - Findings From an Embedded Research Project With the National Park Service'

Research on volunteerism in national parks is rare; no systematic research has been undertaken about the management, motivation or impact of volunteers serving in parks. Queer Solstice Supper - Seeking Volunteers

Lane and Sidewalk Closures on East on East Broad Street, Nov. 1-3 and Nov. 8-10
Due to crane placement to replace the chiller at the Molecular Medical Research Building, three of four westbound lanes and the sidewalk on East Broad Street between College Street and the alley adjacent to MMRB will be closed from 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 through 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 and 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 through 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. VCU is coordinating with the city of Richmond. Signage will be posted to direct traffic.

RecWell OAP Central California Coast Backpacking Spring Break Trip
RecWell’s OAP is hosting a week of backpacking and exploring the mountains, vistas and natural environment of the Central California coast from Sunday, March 9 through Saturday, March 15, 2025. The price includes food, transportation from San Jose, CA to the trailhead, camping permits, entry fees and equipment. The price does not include airfare to or from the start and end point. A trip interest meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Outing Rental Center (130 S Linden St). Registration runs Thursday, Nov. 14 through Friday, Feb 7.
